The Shell Hoops XXL are the largest piece in the family. The ribbed geometry is sized up into a hoop that reaches past the jaw and moves with every turn of the head.
The geometry:
The ribs run along the outer edge of the hoop and the inner face stays smooth. The ridges sit closest together at the bottom of the curve, where the hoop carries its weight, and they open up toward the ends. Each rib catches the light at its own angle, so the hoop reads as a line of small flashes that moves with the head.
On the body:
The hoops frame the face and the jawline as they move. They carry real weight, and they hold the shape of the silhouette the way the cuffs hold the wrist. This is the shell at its largest scale, and it is the one for the evening.
The life it enters:
This is the piece people photograph. The hoops go on for the night, and they are the reason someone crosses the room to ask.
